Poplar Doors
matching white oak molding is also available at Moldings by Homestead
Poplar is even textured, closed grained, stable and of medium hardness. The heartwood is pale greenish-yellow while the sapwood is white. Occasional dark purple streaks occur. The tight closed grain results in outstanding paintability. If you are staining we recommend using darker stains. Paint wash finishes and clear finishes are not recommended because of the greenish tint of the wood. Poplar can be stained to look like cherry with a medium to dark finish.
Botanical name: Liriodendron Tulipifera
Noticeable differences in color and graining may occur between the sample and finished doors.
